Dallas Crane was a passionate HQ racer and much more.  Coming from Tasmania, the home of HQ Racing, Dallas was involved in the category for over twenty years, originally driving the Thunderdome and later many circuits around Australia. He was a fierce but fair competitor and we always expected the C.V.Centre #7 car to be in the top ten wherever it raced.

2009 saw Dallas 3rd in Division One in the Victorian HQ Championship and, even struggling with the effects of his illness, he raced at Mt Panorama in February 2010.

Off the track he filled many and various roles in HQRA Vic and as a committee person, Treasurer, Secretary and later President,  Dallas took his roles seriously, was there to help, and encouraged others to do likewise.

Such was his passion for HQ Racing that had his health not failed him Dallas intended to move back to Tasmania with the aim of drawing the competitors together and forming a Tasmanian HQ Association.

On behalf of all members of HQRA we sincerely offer our condolences to Dallas’s partner, close friends and family.

In his passing we have lost a good mate and real motorsport stalwart. Dallas Crane will be sadly missed.

A short service will be held in conjunction with The Dallas Crane Challenge at Winton Raceway on the weekend of 26th / 27th June 2010
